The New Era of Kate Spade

The New Era of Kate Spade

Whimsical, happy, flirty, fun-those are the first words that come to my mind when I think of Kate Spade. The brand is known for their happy go lucky colors, patterns, and silhouettes and that will not be changing anytime soon.

Kate Spade has a new creative director, Nicola Glass, and she is currently celebrating the launch of her first campaign.  Previously she has been under brands such as Michael Kors and Gucci. Glass’s first collection debuted during Fall Fashion Week (the brands first fashion show!) and the Spring 2019 campaign recently became available for all to see.  Floral, bright, classic with just the right bit of edge-that is what comes instantly to my mind.

And how about this fun fact...Glass is using the same photographer as Kate and Andy Spade used in 1999 and will be shooting the rest of the campaigns thru 2019.  Even though Kate Spade left her company in 2007, Glass made it very clear, saying in an interview, that she wants to ensure that she is honoring the late designer legacy.

The collection has been described as ‘wearable’.  Glass states that Kate Spade did not want fashion to feel intimidating and she wanted to keep that idea going along with her first collection.

When I watched the Spring 2019 show I noticed the same whimsical patterns and feminine silhouettes that Kate Spade is known for.  Headscarves are a huge trend along with shades of yellow and purple and blouses that tie on the neck.  To me, the brand seems more updated and the show kept me guessing what was next the whole time!

The dust bags are now pink and the spade logo seems a bit more oversized are two of the differences that I quickly noticed while unpacking LOP’s new Kate Spade Spring collection.

You can shop Kate Spade accessories at both Pinecrest and Canton and the clothing collection at Canton-happy shopping! Here are some of the photos from our trip to the New York showroom last fall to view the new collection. Enjoy!
