What is your role at Laura of Pembroke?

Assistant Accountant/Spreadsheet and Formula Guru!

Before working at Laura of Pembroke, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I've had a few interesting jobs, but I think the most unusual was when I worked in a collections call center when I was in college. I made good money, but definitely not enough to get constantly yelled at for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I think the most memorable part was when people would swear at me for calling them on a Sunday, the Lord's day.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within LOP, whose job would you want?

Maybe Laura or Karen? I love doing my own knock-off version of interior design in my own house, and it would be amazing to see someone's dream of their perfect space come to life.

What do you like most about working at LOP?

I love the family-centric atmosphere. When I started here, I was looking for something part-time now that I'm a mom, and was having little success finding a work environment that was understanding of family life, and when I interviewed here, I knew I'd found my home. I love what I do, I love who I do it with, and I love that everyone here is such a team that when someone needs some understanding, it's there in spades. It also helps to see all the gorgeous merchandise coming in and going out everyday!

How many years have you worked at LOP?

I'll be here a year in June.

What is your all time favorite LOP purchase?

I've bought a few Kate Spade items and I love each and every one of them! I also have a few of the Beatriz Ball melamine pieces that I adore for outdoor entertaining during the summer.

Best vacation you’ve been to?

My husband and I went to Cozumel for our honeymoon and it was incredible!! I would go back there in a heartbeat.

Do you have a favorite newspaper, blog?

I don't have a ton of time for pleasure reading right now, with an almost-two-year-old at home, so I mostly read mommy blogs when I have the time!

Do you have a favorite quote?

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light." - Albus Dumbledore. I know it's super cheesy to pick a Harry Potter quote, but I think there is a lot of wisdom in remembering those words.

Favorite travel spot?

We've gone to the Outer Banks a few times and I always love it. The beach, some drinks, and the laid-back atmosphere are like heaven to me.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

Lockview in downtown Akron is pretty amazing. Gourmet grilled cheese and an awesome beer/cider collection!

What book did you read last?

"Happiest Toddler on the Block". Trying to head off the terrible twos with some professional insight!! The last book for pleasure was "An Echo in the Bone", by Diana Gabaldon, which is a book in the Outlander series.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I like spending time with my little family, whether it be toddler tumbling class, going to the zoo, or just hanging out at home. Time with them is where I'm the happiest.

What is your favorite TV show or Movie?

Favorite movie would be Gone with the Wind. Favorite TV show is a toss-up between reruns of Scrubs, and reruns of Friends.

Where is your home town?

I was born in Akron, but moved to the tiny village of Strasburg, OH when I was 10, which is where I met my amazing husband.

Where would you like to travel to?

I would love to travel to Europe someday! I'm fascinated by history and I just think it would be incredible to someday see all the places I've only ever read about.
