"The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you."
Coco Chanel
The New Year always comes with resolutions, new fad diets, colder weather, but I never knew it also came with a new color. A lot has been said about Pantone's new "Color of the Year", Greenery. Who knew? I have never heard of the "Color of the Year", only "Beige is the New Black" or "Navy is the New Black". I wanted to find out a little bit more about this "New Color of the Year" and this is what I learned:
The Pantone Color Institute has named itself the "Global Color Authority" and Pantone 15-0343 or Greenery (“a yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring.”) is the 2017 Color of the Year!
“We know what kind of world we are living in: one that is very stressful and very tense,“ said Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to.”
For the last 17 years, The Pantone Color Institute has chosen a color which represents our "current cultural climate". The chosen color has influenced interior design, fashion, food, travel, and much more. "Greenery" seems very appropriate with our new President, Donald Trump. Green signifies money and he certainly has a lot of it. Also, Green signifies the environment and many designers tout their environmentally-friendly products and designs in both clothing and furniture.
