Have you ever picked a paint color for a room and once it's finished the color isn't what you wanted at all? I think we all have been through that panic feeling of "What do I do now?" Picking paint colors for a room can be a daunting task, especially when you're looking for a neutral color that works with your decor.
Usually we pick neutral shades that are pretty light. We definitely want some color on the wall so that we can show off the beautiful molding and then it can showcase everything else in the room.
Have you ever been in a paint store looking at color swatches and you think you've found the perfect grey, only to get it on your wall and it turns green? Yikes!!! So what are neutral colors? They are colors which are light to medium in shade that coordinate well with other colors. Neutrals can have either cool undertones (blue and green) or warm undertones (red, brown, and yellow). So first you need to figure out if you want cool or warm tones in your room.
When you are choosing the perfect neutral for your room, look at the darkest shade on the swatch because it will tell you what undertones are in the color.
Some of our designers favorite neutrals are:
Sherwin Williams
Benjamin Moore
