"Style is when the outside is as beautiful as the inside."
Coco Chanel
Who is the first person that comes to mind when you think of a Style Icon? There are so many women, past and present, with great style. When I think of Style Icons, I definitely think of Audrey Hepburn. She was a confident and strong woman. I think she started the "skinny pants" revolution. She always looked so put together in her black turtleneck, skinny jeans, and loafers. She also made pearls a classic staple for every woman's wardrobe.
My favorite modern "Style Icon" is Jennifer Aniston. She always looks put together whether she's casual or red carpet ready.
I asked our Laura of Pembroke fashionistas to name their "Style Icons":
Lauren Bosworth: "My style icon is Grami (aka Veronica Sirpilla) because the way she puts her outfits together everyday amazes me! She is always perfectly accessorized and looks fabulous DAILY. She is great about mixing old and new clothing pieces, and also mixes vintage jewelry pieces with some of her newer costume jewelry, which looks cool! I am lucky to have a Grandma with such timeless style!! Hopefully someday I will be as put together as she is all the time!"
Grami can hang with the "Cool Kids"!!!
Veronica Sirpilla: "Definitely Jackie Kennedy. She was by far the classiest woman ever! I was proud of how she represented the U.S. (Even though a lot of her clothes were from France)."
Laura Bosworth: "Audrey Hepburn - Simple, classic, understated yet always elegant."
Deborah Thomas: "For me, Audrey Hepburn represents timeless elegance, good taste, and class."
Nancy Darrah: "I have to agree with Deborah about Audrey, but I would add Grace Kelly to list as well. Graceful, classic, and elegant."
Debbie McMasters: "I love "Old Hollywood" elegance. For instance, Grace Kelly, Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Gene Tierney, Hedy Lamar, and Katherine Hepburn. Ultra Sophistication! That's my two cents!"
Lori Huffstetler: I love all the "Style Icons" from Deborah, Nancy and Debbie...I would add Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. We all love the great classics!
Karen Fehlman: The girls I work with are all my "Style Icons"!!! I love to check out what everyone is wearing every day! Such stylish ladies:)))
