Controller - Accountant - Part Time

We are looking for someone with a good knowledge of basic accounting principles, tax, and moderate to advanced skills for Microsoft Excel. Our head accountant who has been with us for 8 years is retiring, and she will be fully training her replacement. Our goal is to have someone hired and starting to train this fall. This is a part time, hourly position.

Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Commissions calculation
  • Payroll reports
  • Some additional HR responsibilities

Reporting & Financial Statements

  • Sales Tax - monthly
  • CAT Tax report - quarterly
  • P&L, Balance Sheet & other entries
  • Open to Buy Report - monthly
  • Cash flow analysis - bi-weekly to monthly

Tax Prep at year end and support for tax accountants

Problem Solving / Problem Fixing

Customer Accounts

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and bookkeeping principles
  • Quickbooks or similar accounting software experience preferred
  • High-energy individual with a strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with limited supervision
  • Owner’s Mindset: Take ownership over everything within the scope of responsibility.

    First, I love your boutique and its my go to when I’m looking for something special or a treat for myself!

    I saw the job posting for a part time accountant and it perfectly fits my skill set. I have been working in accounting and tax preparation for ten years. Before that, I owned my own small business, a day spa, and handled my own accounting and payroll. Having owned a small business, I fully understand the team player concept and picking up whatever responsibilities need to be covered. In small business, it is the idea of working together as a team and picking up any slack for the betterment of the business.

    I was the bookkeeper for another local boutique for 6 years, so I understand the specific industry. Currently, I have my own small private clientele of businesses for bookkeeping, bank reconciliation and payroll services and work under another accountant for tax preparation services in the spring. One of my clients (who owned 3 businesses) just retired to Florida so I am looking for a part time position to compliment my current schedule. In the spirit of transparency, I have 2 school aged children, so I am hesitant to apply for a job right now due to potential quarantines and school closings. My initial questions would be how many hours per week this position requires, and, also, if any of the responsibilities, if necessary, could be performed remotely?
